Alexa Ruane- Blog Journal #5
Although I have used Twitter as a social media for many years, I have recently been using it in a more professional setting. My early experiences using Twitter in education have been characterized as beneficial. This platform allowed me to effectively communicate with classmates and interact with professionals. Twitter might be helpful in my future career as an educator in that I could create an account for classroom updates and important information.
The term digital divide is defined as the gap between individuals who have access to technology and those individuals who do not. This divide is especially present within the educational communities. Those students who do not have access to technology suffer by not being able to participate in a very digitally centered environment (online classes). Some causes of digital divide is the lack of access to those who cannot afford certain technologies experience. As a future educator, I would try to implement a system of educational technology that I could distribute to all students, especially those in need.
Academic software has become an essential part of the modern classroom. As a current online student, I am extremely grateful for academic software because it allows me to be more interconnected in an online classroom. Two tools that I would love to utilize in my future classroom include Google Classroom and educational games. As someone who wants to be an elementary school teacher, I think educational games would be a very effective way to keep young children engaged. Additionally, I think Google Classrooms is a great tool that is easy to use and keeps children connected and informed.

ReplyDeleteHey Alexa, I wish I knew more about twitter since I have not really used it and prefer other social media platforms. I do agree that it could be beneficial with providing information to students, I think students are more likely to respond and read things sent by teachers through social media opposed through a class website or canvas and it is easier for teachers to reach out to classes this way.
