       As I think about being a future high school educator, I believe I will implement data collection within my classroom to check in with how my students are feeling. Not only will this allow me to take into consideration modifications for students, but it will help me to understand what I need to improve about my teaching techniques. One idea that I have is to have an online survey session on each Wednesday. This will allow me to ensure that I can improve my students’ mood and understanding before the end of each week. In reviewing my classmates’ blogs, I learned a great deal of information! More specifically, I found Oliver’s post about Web Design extremely well thought out and fascinating.   As a whole, my experience as a distance learner this semester has been positive. Although I ultimately prefer in person classes, I appreciate being able to attend classes from anywhere. This option has given me the opportunity to visit home more frequently, but I feel as though it has limited my individual capabilities as well as the option for group collaboration. As a future educator, I believe I could improve students’ experience as an online learner by having new and exciting online activities and encouraging them to participate in online sessions.     Teacher pages on school websites are an amazing tool to help students, parents, and teachers to stay informed and effectively communicate. Although my alma mater didn’t require teachers to maintain a set of class pages, I was able to find a local high school that did. Leon High School’s common literature teacher has a very well organized and informative teacher website that includes student resources, assignment due dates, and classroom updates.   In the initial steps in completing my assignments using Diigo, I was confused by the site’s formatting and layout. After joining the EME 2040 Diigo group, the structure made more sense. However, I personally prefer using a browser to bookmark external sites. This could simply be because using Diigo has been a learning experience for me and I am not fully comfortable with it yet. Additionally, I prefer doing annotations by hand on paper because it is much more effective for my learning technique.  I have thoroughly enjoyed using blogging in this class!   Although I have used Twitter as a social media for many years, I have recently been using it in a more professional setting. My early experiences using Twitter in education have been characterized as beneficial. This platform allowed me to effectively communicate with classmates and interact with professionals. Twitter might be helpful in my future career as an educator in that I could create an account for classroom updates and important information.  The term digital divide is defined as the gap between individuals who have access to technology and those individuals who do not.     The concepts of copyright and fair use help teachers to know what they may do under the law. Copyright is a succession of governmental laws that restrict the application of someone’s ideas or products. On the other hand, fair use is the act of applying copyright laws justly. The process of fair use is characterized by proper citations when using an author’s work in ways that they explicitly allow. As an educator, I think it is more beneficial to use original ideas to effectively teach students. With that being said, it can also be beneficial to utilize fair use and apply other’s ideas to your lesson plans while properly citing them.
